VAN WYCK JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL 2026 FALL TRY-OUT SCHEDULE

The Cross country informational meeting will be Wednesday Sept.9th until 4:00 (parent pick up if late busses are not running yet)
Tryouts will be Monday Sept 14 for both 7th and 8th grade. I plan to run separate time trials for 7th and 8th and boys and girls. This will run 2:25-4:00
Practice will start Tuesday Sept 15th until the late busses
Parent meeting will be virtual at 5:00 Wednesday September 16th.

Tuesday, September 8th: 4:30-6:30pm: Interest meeting followed by an open gym
Wednesday, September 9th: 4:30-6:30pm: Tryouts
Thursday, September 10th: 4:30-6:30pm: Tryouts
Friday, September 11th: 4:30-6:30pm: Tryouts

Parent virtual meeting, 8/31 @ 7pm on Google Meet
Interest meeting, 9/10 @ VW: 3:30-3:45 for athletes
Tryouts for all will be Monday 9/14- Wednesday 9/16 (3:30-5:00).
Practices will begin Thursday 9/17 from 3:30-5:00.

Tryouts and practice schedule for Sept. Sept. 8th - 1st day of school meeting with athletes in cafeteria right after school 1st day of Tryouts and conditioning. End 5:30pm - Parents to pick up at 5:30 Sharp Sept. 9th thru 11th tryouts and conditioning. Ends 5:30pm. pickup sharp Sept. 14th thru 18th tryouts and condtioning. End 5:00pm cuts will be on the 18th are made at end of practice in person and privately Sept. 9-21 and beyond practices are 2:30 - 5:30pm. Monday thru Friday ALL TRYOUTS AND PRACTICES ARE CLOSED SESSIONS Parent/Athlete meeting will be announced after Tryout period is completed EQUIPTMENT NEEDED: ASAP 7 pad girdle system with built-in knee pads. MUST COVER KNEES Plain and simple mouthguards (buy multiple, you'll need them - No Bling) Cleats Centers MUST have athletic cup at all times. ....recommended for everyone too.... PROVIDED: practice pants. jerseys are provided, personal pants are ok too game pants, jerseys, helmets are provided shoulderpads are provided -

The final hour (4:00-5:00) will be used to speak with each player individually (with feedback-in the coaches office) if they made it past the final cut, and they will know if they become part of the next 2026 VW Griffin Soccer Team!Friday-9/18-First day of team practices (for those who made the team) -2:30-4:30 Monday through Friday.
