Ballot Presentation: 2026-27 District Budget & Bus Purchase Propositions
For the fifth consecutive year, our proposed budget remains under the tax cap: sustaining the programs and services students need and deserve, while remaining fiscally responsible to our taxpayers. The proposed budget contains a tax levy increase of 2.59%. We’re also requesting 25 gasoline- and diesel-powered buses (15 replacements, 10 new).

A Message from the Superintendent
April 30, 2026
I recently shared a joint message from the Board of Education President and myself, asking for our WCSD community’s help on an issue that directly affects fairness for our student-athletes and all public school student-athletes across New York: the current system for section and regional play is completely unfair to Wappingers CSD public school student-athletes at each of our high schools.
Please see our full letter here to learn more, and use this link, developed by the Harrison Central School District, to send a letter requesting that Commissioner Rosa and the Board of Regents assume direct oversight of interscholastic athletics in New York State to ensure fairness for all public school students.
Our budget vote and Board of Education election is on May 19. I want to thank the Board of Education, as well as the faculty, staff, families, and residents who shared their priorities and suggestions. It helped us craft a budget that serves our students and is still fiscally responsible, remaining under the tax cap. Please continue to reach out to us with questions or comments at budget@wcsdny.org.
Our students are working hard and making us proud every day. I encourage our families and community to visit our calendar page for opportunities to see them shine! You’ll find game schedules, concert and theater performances, honor society inductions, and more.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dwight Bonk
Superintendent of Schools
